PCSO ON PATROLS

Finally...well what a busy day so far.

This morning. I was doing foot patrols checking with the Blackpilll Junction staff and Texaco garage to see if all is ok. It's a lovely day and no doubt the roads will be busy with many families visiting the local areas of West Cross and Mumbles etc.

1010 hrs.Good walk to Clyne Gardens, family enjoying the day out. Good engagement.

1025 hrs. Fantastic staff at the Woodmans. Thumbs 👍 up to your local Neighbourhood  team.

1050 hrs. Good chat to the local Skatepark users. I have asked the young people if they had any issues of late. Few weeks back there were some reports of ASB at the location.  I have asked those using the Skatepark to let the police know if they see any issues.

1100 hrs.I then attended the Texaco garage. Luckily I did there was a young person who was biking and reopened an old wound on their leg. Brilliant staff at the fuel ⛽️ station had a First Aid box. Young person was all patched up and went away with freinds.

1120 hrs.I then chatted with staff and customers at the Junction cafe. I met a wonderful lady 95 years of age, and what a story to tell.

1150 hrs. I was then going to the Mumbles Residential Home and we both went there together as she lived there.

1205 hrs. Next it was a lovely family were near and the the little boy had a wonderful photo with their parents, hopefully a future Sgt there.

1210 hrs. Next patrols along Mumbles Road and then towards West Cross shops. Good chat with staff and those using the park. I did speak to a small group drinking nearby and appropriately advised them.

1225 hrs. Next stop patrols at Fairwood Road and Ilston Way and along to Kenilworth Place and Baywood Avenue, followed by Warwick Place.  This is in relation to Problem Oriented Policing or POP for short. It's about tackling issues in your area. Be it ASB, Criminal Damage, etc.

It's about understanding the issues that affect you, your community etc. Only by good old fashioned face to face contact works. From reassurance to working together with you and various organisations that work within that area.

PCSO'S need to be good at listening,  providing reassurance and problem solve. We can't promise to fix all things but we try to work in partnership working to reduce issues in your area. We can't do it alone, we need you and partners such as council, NSU to name a few to empower the community.

This can be done by officers patrolling, drop in hubs in local community centres, Cuppa with a Copper and general patrols. The list is exhaustive and so many ways your local Neighbourhood Policing Team get out and about in your community.

Oh sorry, where were we.

1330 hrs. Next stop was a visit to the Sketty Mosque regarding Ramadan. Good chat to everyone there.

1350 hrs. Next on then to conduct reassurance patrols at Singleton Park.  No issues reported.

1425 hrs. Attended concerns of a number of horse carriages in Mumbles Road. Good chat to the travelling Community,  no concerns.

1500 hrs. Just arrived back in Mumbles Station. Few updates to do. Which I am typing now.

My plan for this afternoon is Mumbles Shops Engagement regarding reassurance patrols and *South Wales Listens Sign Up*

Keep you posted later. Hope you all have had a good day so far.

From Your Local Neighbourhood Policing Team PCSO'S Angela, Sally and Pat.
