You may have noticed South Wales Police Officers actively promoting Knife Crime Awareness this week.

Local officers across the South Wales Police area have been busy! They've been visiting schools, engaging with community groups, hosting outreach events, and conducting weapon and knife sweeps in local parks and recreational areas. Please be reassured if you see officers checking these areas for discarded items like knives, weapons, or drug paraphernalia. These are routine checks as part of our awareness week and do not indicate a specific problem in that location.

I personally conducted checks at Cwmrhydyceirw and Ynystawe parks this weekend and am pleased to report finding nothing of concern.
