Today PCSO JONES is out and about talking to local residents ahead of Bonfire Night.   The inappropriate use of fireworks is dangerous and illegal. It can also cause distress and anxiety to vulnerable residents and to pets.    Our tips to stay safe Bonfire Night: An organised display is the safest way to enjoy fireworks. Keep bonfires small and manageable and build them only on private land and away from houses, garages, sheds, fences, overhead cables, trees, bushes and vehicles. Avoid drinking alcohol whilst in charge of a bonfire or fireworks. Only children over the age of five should use sparklers, and they must be supervised by an adult at all times. It is an offence to sell or give fireworks to anyone under the age of 18. You can be fined or imprisoned for selling or using fireworks illegally. It is also an offence to set of fireworks in a public place. We hope everyone stays safe. Please report and suspicious behaviour. |
