BOBBY KNOCKING PENCLAWDD AREA |
||
|
Dear Resident
We as a local Policing have been made aware that a small number of Local Children have been Bobby knocking in the Penclawdd area over the last few weeks. Unfortunately, over the last day or so the Bobby Knocking has now turned into kicking doors. This is totally unacceptable and local officers are currently making enquiries as to who are responsible for these actions. If identified officers will be knocking on their doors and will speak to the parents , with the intention of issuing Anti-social Behaviour Referrals to those involved
Please see below:-
"Bobby Knocking" (or "knock-a-door-run") is a prank, particularly common in South Wales, that causes significant distress, anxiety, and fear for residents, especially the elderly. It often results in, or is perceived as, harassment or antisocial behaviour, with some incidents escalating to property damage, such as kicked-in doors or broken windows.
Key Impacts on People
· Distress .Anxiety and Fear: It causes significant distress, particularly among the elderly and those with health problems, causing them to feel paranoid or unsafe in their homes · Harassment: Victims, especially those targeted repeatedly (often multiple times a night), can feel harassed and intimidated. · Disturbance: It is a major nuisance, waking people and families at all hours, including late at night. · Safety Risks: The prank can lead to dangerous situations, with reports of doors being kicked in and, in some cases, causing residents to fear for their safety and react with force. · Psychological Impact: The persistent, unexpected nature of the disruption can make residents feel vulnerable and under siege . Legal Action: Police in various areas have warned that this activity is illegal and can lead to identification and potential legal consequences. · Reporting: Incidents should be reported via 101 or through local force websites to ensure patrols are directed to affected areas.
While the majority of young people in our community behave responsibly, this type of behaviour is unacceptable. Do you know where your children are spending their time during late afternoon or evening, and who they are with?
