SELF DEFENCE WORKSHOP

Dear resident,

PCSO Williams had the pleasure of organising a female-only self-defence workshop in Port Tennant last week, raising awareness of Violence against Women and Girls.

There was a fantastic turn-out, with women of all ages able to learn and develop their self-defence skills whilst also having fun and meeting new people.

Along with PCSO Williams, staff from South Wales Police Public Protection Unit and Community Safety Team, alongside Swansea Council Independent Domestic Violence Advisors, were in attendance to provide information and advice to participants, giving them the opportunity to speak freely and confidently and have any queries answered, including around Clare's Law.

Cllr Hayley Gwilliam also played a vital part including liaising with Cwtch Mawr to provide living essentials for all those attending.

Lastly, a huge thank you to Ceri and Gerard of TOTAL SELF PROTECTION, who led the session and were so knowledgeable, encouraging and made participants feel instantly at ease. They have helped a group of women feel more confident after just one session.

After the first half of the class, one participants said “I feel much more empowered already!”
