Neighbourhood policing is at the heart of our approach to keeping South Wales safe. Our PCSOs and officers are proud to be integral parts of the communities they serve.
We want to ensure our neighbourhood policing is as efficient and effective as it can be, and our aim is to be the best in the country at understanding and responding to the needs and priorities of each individual community. Your local neighbourhood policing team is made up of officers and PCSOs based in your area who are both visible and accessible.
Fundamental to our model of neighbourhood policing is engaging with our communities: connecting with individuals, organisations, businesses, schools, workplaces and others; working to understand, respond to, and tackle your concerns and priorities; and putting measures in place to prevent issues from escalating – or from occurring in the first place.
By working together and focusing on early intervention, prevention and problem solving, we can find long-term solutions to local problems.
Please note that to report a crime or incident to South Wales Police, you can visit Home | South Wales Police or in an emergency, please dial 999.

Local Priority Issues
We regularly speak to local residents to establish what issues they may be experiencing in their area. We set up to three local priorities for each policing area three times a year. These are based on local crime statistics, information from partner agencies and feedback from the community via our local priorities survey. The priorities for this area are currently:
Park Plaza Retail Outlet
You said there is ongoing vehicle ASB due to groups of youths using the car park. This is through noise issues (i.e. revving of engines, loud music), dangerous driving and littering.
We have created a POP plan (Plan on a Page) to help tackle the on-going issues. Officers have been conducting proactive patrols in the location and engaging with the drivers. If drivers are seen to be driving in an anti-social manner, they will be given S59 warnings. Traffic is also aware of the problem and conduct periodic patrols. Local officers also engage with the local retail and eateries and encourage them to report incidents or dangerous driving and anti-social use of vehicles to assist officers to combat the problem.
Ewenny Road/Lane
You said there are issues surrounding drug usage around Ewenny Road/Lane.
We are conducting high visibility patrols within the location. If grounds exist, stop searches are carried out and dealt with if possible. Officers have liaised with Spar on Ewenny road and advised them to contact officers and report behaviour linked with drug misuse. Bridgend County Borough Council CCTV are also aware and monitor periodically. There was also a letter drop previously, which encouraged residents to report any suspicious behaviour. The problem has elevated somewhat since BARC (a drop-in centre) was relocated. With the drug problems brings anti-social behaviour. This is tackled by means of ASB referrals and S35 notices
Pen y Bont Care Home (Ewenny Road)
You said there is anti-social behaviour taken place in an abandoned building.
We have liaised with Pen y Bont care home regarding the on-going issues with persons using the abandoned building. Patrols are conducted in the area to disrupt persons using the building. The owner has been contacted to board the building up and officers will be in contact with Bridgend County Borough Council to see if there is any pressure they can place on the owners to make the building safe. The nurses in the care home have contact with the local officers.
We will submit ASB referrals if subjects are identified.
The word cloud below represents the issues that local residents have recently highlighted in the survey as priorities for their area (including some that say "I have no issues").
Word clouds are graphical representations of word frequency that give greater prominence to words that appear more frequently. The larger the word in the visual below the more common the word was in the survey.
Your feedback is important and the more we get, the better we can understand and deal with the issues raised. Please click on the button below to have your say on local issues. Please do share your feedback every few months so we can be sure we have your current views.
