Neighbourhood policing is at the heart of our approach to keeping South Wales safe. Our PCSOs and officers are proud to be integral parts of the communities they serve.
We want to ensure our neighbourhood policing is as efficient and effective as it can be, and our aim is to be the best in the country at understanding and responding to the needs and priorities of each individual community. Your local neighbourhood policing team is made up of officers and PCSOs based in your area who are both visible and accessible.
Fundamental to our model of neighbourhood policing is engaging with our communities: connecting with individuals, organisations, businesses, schools, workplaces and others; working to understand, respond to, and tackle your concerns and priorities; and putting measures in place to prevent issues from escalating – or from occurring in the first place.
By working together and focusing on early intervention, prevention and problem solving, we can find long-term solutions to local problems.
Please note that to report a crime or incident to South Wales Police, you can visit Home | South Wales Police or in an emergency, please dial 999.

Local Priority Issues
We regularly speak to local residents to establish what issues they may be experiencing in their area. We set up to three local priorities for each policing area three times a year. These are based on local crime statistics, information from partner agencies and feedback from the community via our local priorities survey. The priorities for this area are currently:
ASB from youths
You said youths are engaging in ASB across the village.
We are conducting high visibility patrols during key times during evenings and weekends. When subjects are identified they are dealt with by means of ASB referral and/or early help where appropriate. There appears to be a small group of youths that seem to be causing the main issues. Officers have engaged with the school and the parents. Housing officers have also assisted in conducting joint visits and warned parents that the behaviour of the youths could have a negative impact on their housing contract. There is now POP plan (Plan on a Page) in place to assist in the reduction of calls.
Parking concerns near school
You said there are parking issues at school pick up and drop off times in surrounding streets around the schools.
We have patrolled outside the school, held meetings with the school head and parents to educate them on the safety issues with parking outside a school. Where there are lines in place, parents are spoken to at the time and advised they could be eligible for a parking ticket. Children have also taken home projects which their parents helped them with in regard to road safety outside schools. This is an on-going issue. Local authorities are also aware and assist with school parking.
Vehicle ASB - Pencoed College and the dual carriage ways
You said there are concerns surrounding vehicular anti-social behaviour.
We have attended Pencoed college and engaged with staff and students regarding the manner of driving. These issues are normally term time. Officers conduct high visibility patrols. ASB referrals and S59’s are a consideration when dealing with vehicle ASB.
The word cloud below represents the issues that local residents have recently highlighted in the survey as priorities for their area (including some that say "I have no issues").
Word clouds are graphical representations of word frequency that give greater prominence to words that appear more frequently. The larger the word in the visual below the more common the word was in the survey.
Your feedback is important and the more we get, the better we can understand and deal with the issues raised. Please click on the button below to have your say on local issues. Please do share your feedback every few months so we can be sure we have your current views.
