Porthcawl East Central

Neighbourhood policing is at the heart of our approach to keeping South Wales safe. Our PCSOs and officers are proud to be integral parts of the communities they serve.

We want to ensure our neighbourhood policing is as efficient and effective as it can be, and our aim is to be the best in the country at understanding and responding to the needs and priorities of each individual community. Your local neighbourhood policing team is made up of officers and PCSOs based in your area who are both visible and accessible.

Fundamental to our model of neighbourhood policing is engaging with our communities: connecting with individuals, organisations, businesses, schools, workplaces and others; working to understand, respond to, and tackle your concerns and priorities; and putting measures in place to prevent issues from escalating – or from occurring in the first place.

By working together and focusing on early intervention, prevention and problem solving, we can find long-term solutions to local problems.

Please note that to report a crime or incident to South Wales Police, you can visit Home | South Wales Police or in an emergency, please dial 999.

Local Priority Issues

We regularly speak to local residents to establish what issues they may be experiencing in their area. We set up to three local priorities for each policing area three times a year. These are based on local crime statistics, information from partner agencies and feedback from the community via our local priorities survey. The priorities for this area are currently:

ASB – Youths congregating in the lane linking Mackworth Road and Glan Road. They also attend the old Dinosaur Park.

You Said that youths are being verbally abusive and throwing objects into private gardens. The youths attend the old dinosaur park and light fires and take drugs.

We are going to continue to patrol the locations and take action against those committing ASB. We will gather information and liaise with partner agencies and landowners to address the concerns via problem solving. Residents will be kept updated via PACT meetings and South Wales Listens messaging.

Obstructive Parking Across Ward

You Said vehicles are parking close to junctions and around constrained road bends making it difficult to visualise oncoming traffic. Grass verges and pavements are being used as car parks making the area unsafe to walk.

We are going to continue to patrol the locations and take action against those vehicles causing obstructions. We will liaise with partner agencies regarding offences committed that don’t fall under the remit of the Police. A leaflet drop will be conducted in locations highlighting the issue and providing suitable information. Residents to be kept updated via PACT meetings and South Wales Listens messaging.

Speeding Across Ward

You Said vehicles are causing concern by driving in excess of the speed limit. The locations are near to schools and play parks.

We are going to continue to patrol the locations and utilise the hand held speed gun to monitor the speed and forward the information to the relevant departments and partner agencies for further action to be taken. Residents to be kept updated via PACT meetings and South Wales Listens messaging.
